Santiago Daydí-Tolson (Viña del Mar, Chile, 1943). Licenciado por la Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (Chile), obtuvo el Ph.D. de la Universidad de Kansas. Es profesor emérito de la Universidad de Wisconsin-Milwaukee y de la Universidad de Tejas en San Antonio. Entre sus numerosas publicaciones académicas se cuentan los libros Vicente Aleixandre: A Critical Appraisal (Bilingual Press, 1981), The Post Civil War Spanish Social Poets (Twayne Publishers, 1983), Voces y ecos en la poesía de José Angel Valente (Society of Spanish and Spanish American Studies, 1984), Five Poets of Aztlan (Bilingual Press, 1985), El último viaje de Gabriela Mistral (Editorial Aconcagua, 1989) y la traducción y edición de la correspondencia entre Ernesto Cardenal y Thomas Merton (Cuarto Propio, 1988 y Trotta, 2004). Es autor de la novela Under the Walnut Tree (2013), de los poemarios Insectarium (2014) y La ira de la lira and Some Irate Lyrics (2015) y de los volúmenes de prosa breve El cuaderno de don Baruj (2018), Las edades del enigma (2022) y Oropel (2023).
Santiago Daydí-Tolson was born in Viña del Mar, Chile in 1943. He did his undergraduate studies at the Universidad Católica de Valparaíso and in 1973 received a Ph.D from the University of Kansas. A Woodrow Wilson Fellow, he taught Hispanic literatures at Fordham University, The University of Virginia, The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the University of Texas at San Antonio. He is Emeritus Professor from the last two institutions. In addition to several academic books and numerous publication in his professional field, he has published a novel, Under the Walnut Tree (Media Isla, 2013); two poetry collections, Insectarium (ALJA, 2014); La lira de la ira and Some Irate Lyrics (Bilingual Press, 2015); and three volumes of prose, El cuaderno de don Baruj (ALJA, 2018), Las edades del enigma (Letras en la Frontera and Ediciones Morgana, 2022) and Oropel (Amar Cafe and Letras en la Frontera, 2023).
